Michael John Ryan, 94, passed away at home with family present on December 17, 2025. He was born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey and was a long-time resident of Cranford, New Jersey. Michael attended high school at St. Peter’s Prep, went to college at Saint Peter’s University, and earned his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School.

He had a long legal career practicing admiralty and maritime law and was very well respected by his peers. He began his legal career in Chicago, Illinois and eventually joined the firm of Hill, Betts & Nash, LLP in New York, New York in September 1972.

As you know, the MLA holds elections at the New York General Meeting in May for Officer and Board positions.  We have decided to extend the deadline for nominations to April 10, 2026.  We learned that some members had difficulty finding the list of Nominating Committee members. 

In addition, we want to let you know that our long-time Treasurer, Bob Connor, has decided to retire from the Board as an Officer.  We appreciate his dedicated service as our Treasurer and all that he has done to support the Association these many years!

Henry C. Lucas, III, formerly of Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, at King of Prussia Nursing & Rehab. He was 94 years old.

Born on November 1, 1931, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Henry was the son of the late Henry C. Lucas, Jr. and Bernice Toland Lucas.
